About
Indira Ganesan is the author of The Journey (NY: Alfred A. Knopf) and Inheritance (NY: Alfred A. Knopf) Both books are available from Beacon Press. Her new novel will be released in 2013.
Note:
In December and January of 2010, I visited my extended family in India. Refreshed by this experience, I did three things: work steadily on a novel in progress; joined Face Book, and began this blog. Going back to the country of my birth perhaps gave me freedom to be more public, instilled some courage as travel does.
This blog is a series of short essays and observations, on writing fiction, on gardening, of watching the day unfold as we pour water through the chemex and think about tulips. Or the current reality: Melita coffee filters but no cone, seedlings yearning their way out of egg creates, and late afternoon sun.
Maybe, Reader, you will share what you notice as your day lengthens, as you find poetry in verse or prose in the spaces in between one action and another, and maybe we will inspire each other.

Congratulations on your new deal! I can’t wait to read AS SWEET AS HONEY!
I’m first and foremost a book lover and this is just what I need on my “to read” list! Loved learning about it on Publishers Lunch today.
Best,
Julie
Indira,
I just wanted to touch base with you and say hi. I don’t know if you remember having me as a student, but I was in your class at Naropa in 2008 (I believe). I would love to get in touch. Hope all is well. Love your Blog!

Hello Indira,
I can’t remember if I have reached out to you before or not, but I was a graduate student at Southampton College. I’m sorry we lost touch.
How are you?
